I'm very happy to receive Third prize in UMO – 4th International Cartoon contest'08. Most of all I am making daily cartoons an caricatures for newspaper and I am not so often participating in cartoon contests, this is my first prize in cartoon contests, in future I think to participate much often. Latvia is enough far from India, but it is nice, that is no borderlines for good jokes and cartoons.

I am very much honoured being awarded the Third Prize at the UMO-4th International Cartoon Contest '08. I want to extend my gratitude to the most esteemed jury of the contest. Unlike some other International Cartoon Contests, where the prize winners are mostly picked from the organising country, the prize winners in this UMO- Contest belong to various countries, across different continents. This shows the fairness of the judgement which is a hallmark of any good Cartoon Contest. I wish Team UMO a very prosperous future.

It was a good exposure to world wide cartoons. It feels good to win an award among so many other entries. The delay in declaring the results was a bit disappointing as it did not follow the information provided on the website.

Few Lines about Bad Design Contest:

Its really great for me that my entry for the Bad Design Contest was selected amongst the top 10 entries and my work for the entry was recognised by the voters. Thanks as we may my bad design entry be renovated to a good design. The event really made me for few moments to think about bad design present around us.And selecting a bad design for entry when you are surrounded by many designs which need improvement needs some out of box thinking.

About the event:

UMO is doing a big deal by organising such an out of box event and that too on such a lagescale of participants involvement-India aswell as abroad. The event is surely creating a public awareness about various designs and making the designers think more innovatively before launching a design for public use.Carry on... UMO ,it will surely make design more innovative --seen never before....making life style more comfortable.

"UMO: Bad Design Expo' 08 is a great initiative taken by UMO which lets a common man raise his point on a badly designed product which otherwise goes unnoticed. It provides a great platform to the people who value user-experience and want to express their thoughts at a national or international level. I am glad to be a part of this contest and look forward to more such initiatives from UMO. Kudos!".

Efforts taken by UMO to organise such competitions are worth speaking. There exists many such problems in our daily life, and we hardly seem to feel them - majorly because we get used to it and also due to this "chalta hai" attitude that we have. Though the solution to such problem may or may not be simple but identifying such a problem is an applaudable too. This also give opportunities to designers here, for a number of products that will make life easy for people. And all this will definitely contribute to the nations progress.Being a participant and also a designer i would say that we should be sensitive in indentifying such problems and also resolving them.

I really feel this contest as an opportunity to project some of the bad designs existing in the society .This makes people more aware about their surroundings and also lets them to think whether a new concept introduced is good or bad.

Initially i would like to thank UMO for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to keenly observe the designs which are truly annoying but we still tend to ignore most of the times. As a design student, this has surely enhanced one of my skill of observation and will surely work to come out with better ideas to solve this annoying situations.

I am very much thankful for you for selecting my entry...

And i want say that your competition give an eye to designer to see design defect even for those design also which user is using for many years and make them self habitual for even that defect. The ignorance for design some time pays as back in very bad and harmful manner. But trying to win in this competition gave me that eye to see that defects also. Thanks for bringing that eye in me.

A fun way of having been a participant in this event. An event where I got to know more about the Designs around me and something that enlightened me with future design prospects as an Industrial Designer.
