iINNOVATE

UMO Global Student Design Challenge 2012

On the occasion of UXINDIA’12 international Conference, UMO calls for participation in iINNOVATE Challenge2012 to enrich the lives of rural and underprivileged communities. Identify opportunities and define solutions that create self sustainable communities in rural and underprivileged areas there by propagating distributed growth in developing countries like India without having to depend on oversubscribed cities.

Theme for the competition

Self sustainable development for rural and underprivileged communities

Opportunity to innovate inside out from grass roots level is a unique advantage our nation holds every time there are concerns about growth. The diversity in socioeconomic fabric provides unique challenges and opportunities, especially a lot needs to be done to enrich the lives of rural and underprivileged communities.

Think of sustainability in the context of wealth creation, living/well being, housing, healthcare, education, poverty, water, communication and financial infrastructure. You can pick any one of those areas and then

  • Discover an initial idea or inspiration
  • Define the identified need or problem
  • Design a solution that can not only address the problem but also enables the communities to leverage it for sustained development and growth

We believe iINNOVATE Challenge is a great opportunity for colleges and universities to shape students into thought leaders by addressing real problems that could make real difference. Your idea could be vested in a non-profit organization, a campaign, community volunteerism or other informal and formal operations.
