Indian cities have become synonymous with congestion, noise, and air pollution. The continuing urban boom will stress an already-pressured urban infrastructure system, especially around transportation and traffic. Tier 1 cities being the most impacted, more so with the planned rapid transit systems and metro rail projects. On a positive note such developments offer great opportunity for innovative solutions and services required around such developing infrastructure.

Theme for the competition

Innovative solutions for a great commuter experience

On the occasion of of INDIA 2013 international Conference, UMO calls for participation in iINNOVATE Challenge 2013 to reimagine services and solutions for the ever growing complexity in the urban transport and traffic scene. We encourage you to think in a non- interventional manner, i.e., no new construction or infrastructure is expected, no new flyovers, or railway lines, or skywalks, or such built forms which would disrupt the daily lives furthermore.

Identify opportunities and create innovative solutions/services based on the latest technologies. Address issues like navigation in the city, public/pedestrian safety and health, parking etc.

You can prepare your submissions based on these broad guidelines:

  • Discover - What is the opportunity, initial idea or inspiration?
  • Define - What is the identified need or problem? Who is it going to help, who are the target audience?
  • Design - What is your solution for the defined problem? Illustrate how it enhances the overall commuter experience.
