UMO - 6th Boycott Bad Design Contest'10
Communication is the new order of life on our planet. H2O, O2 and a skill set on our resumes is not enough anymore to survive in this ever growing complex ecosystem of life.
Mobile and social communication is a big buzz word and why not, after all we have over 300 million mobile subscribers.
Communication is one of the most basic and also the most complicated of human expressions. Depending on the context and situation, communication can address plethora of emotional needs and can make or break relations, career and business. Communication is the most powerful of all mediums. But unfortunately and inevitably we let developing technologies seize the control of our communication. Medium has become the messenger and message itself now.
Boycott Bad Design Contest'10 encourages participants to look at various means, modes, mediums, products and services of communication from the most latest micro blogging rage like Twitter on the Internet to the not so pre-historic mediums like newspapers, radio, television and telephone. All identified bad designs must be currently in use.

Olden days mostly floppy disks are used for storing purpose.Due to lack of storage memory the floppy disks are exhausted. so if there is an increase in the storage memory very useful and secure to maintain the backup of the data.

Now-a-days backup of data is important so mostly people use cd's & dvd's for storing purposes.If any scraches or cracks may happen it may lead to the distruction of data in the cd's and sometimes it mayn't run.

Child safety locks are build into the rear doors of most cars to prevent rear seat passengers from opening the door, the idea is that, when the lock is set you cant open the door from inside until and unless the driver should open it from the outside of the car.

The Front loading Washing Machines may have greatest advantage, may well be it’s energy efficiency, but it also suffers from many cons & disadvantages:
1. Bending so far over to add & remove laundry can be an issue for many.
2. Adding to a laundry load is not as simple with a front loader washer. In order to add forgotten laundry, the machine must first be stopped. If the tub has already started to fill, it will have to drain before the front loading door will be open.
3. Parents who have small children need to be on a high alert, because kids love to find small places to hide & the front load design of these tubs seem like the perfect Club house for them.

First of all this a very poor quality product which leads to hazards like electric shocks and short circuits. Even if the quality part is put aside this is not a very good design of an electric socket because it does not support all kinds of plugs (European and the American).

When a newspaper is read it is always unfolded and after it is done so it becomes very clumsy to handle the whole newspaper. It’s not a big problem for those who are at home but for those who work or who travel a lot it becomes a big mess to carry and occasionally unfold the whole newspaper in the public and start reading it.

A bus similar to the one that is shown is not a good means of transport on narrow streets. Due to their wide floor area they occupy most of the space on the streets and leave barely any room for other cars to pass. This causes traffic jam, slow traffic speed and total commotion.
