Crossing

Ritwik Das, Kolkata

The 5-point crossing that is shown in the picture is a very bad way of designing the roads. The reason is that when one of the lanes is free to go the vehicles in the other lanes cannot move. So at a time only one lane is open. This reduces the traffic flow and the also hinders the average traffic speed.

Compact Disc

Ritwik Das, Kolkata

The CD has 2 surfaces. One of them is the surface on which data is stored. Now while handling the CD (i.e. inserting or removing it from the optical drive or placing it in its case) there is a fair possibility this surface of the CD might get scratched or damaged which might lead to malfunctioning of the CD.

High Heels

Sunny Shah

Though the heels look pretty for women, but it causes more effect on their bodies it may leads to some type of pains. For example by wearing stiletto heels, platform heels, wedge heels.
Heels and pain are sides of the same coin. Though women look lovely in heels, they have to suffer form many of its side-effects. Here is the list of bad effects of wearing heels.
Foot pain
Most of the women suffer form foot pain after walking with high heels. Because of high heels the entire pressure of body is concentrated on the feet. If this happens for a longer time it can cause foot and even hip pain.

Rickshaw Hawker

Upasna Bhandari, Delhi

A frequent mode of transport for people. Easy and cheap for travelling shorter distances.
However it faces some serious design issues.
a. Because of the height of the footboard, I often see ladies and old fraternity having difficulty climbing the rickshaw. If the height is lowered like the concept used in Low Floor CNG buses it will be improved a lot. Road clearance can be taken into consideration and thus height can be reduced considerably.

Coffee Mugs

Upasna Bhandari, Delhi

This is from a personal experience. I ordered a large comfort cup of Chocó latté. But when I picked it up from the handle attached to the mug, my fingers felt a great strain. Since the cup was full I had to keep the cup down after a while. It was not a good user experience since it was discomforting n painful. Also if one tried to support the cup from other hand there is no appropriate provision. The contents are super hot n you cannot support the cup either from bottom or rim of the cup.
