Plastic bags are preferred for being less in weight size, and also for its flexibility. These bags are meant for one time usage and disposal.
Bad Designs
Major negative aspect of this practice is, they can't be recycled and they are not biodegradable. They continue to last wherever they are dumped for thousands of human equivalent lifetimes. In rainy season they block sanitation lines. They should be replaced with degradable and eco friendly material.
