These filament bulbs are still used as they are produced at low cost. But this technology is very ineffective. .jpg "Bad Designs")
Only a tiny proportion of input energy is converted into light, rest of it is wasted in the form of heat. Fluorescent bulbs produce less heat when are functioning and converts most of electrical power into light.
There should be careful use of energy resources which can help reduce global warming.
