Compact Disc

Ritwik Das, Kolkata

The CD has 2 surfaces. One of them is the surface on which data is stored. Now while handling the CD (i.e. inserting or removing it from the optical drive or placing it in its case) there is a fair possibility this surface of the CD might get scratched or damaged which might lead to malfunctioning of the CD.

Remedy: If the CD is enclosed in a plastic case, similar to that of a Floppy Disk, and then used with the casing as a whole, then the CD is protected from any rough handling.
